Hello Group:

I have just finished my BS in Accounting---I am loking for an Entry
Level position---I have been a Night Auditor--Have done Accounts
Receivables, Billing --Posting and updating AR accounts--worked one
season for H& R Block dong taxes-took additonal courses at H& R
Block--in taxation--finished an Excel 2007 on -line an received
certificate-can anyone suggest a strategy on how to enter the accounting
field--I am 49 years old--people have said i am to old???

I presently live in Connecticut---not far from New York--but I have
submitted several resumes to the New York area to no avail---they say it
is because I do not live close enough to Mnahattan----is there a website
that i can go to that is regional in parts of the county --that are need
of entry level accountants???do you think with my experience that i am
entry level?

I work over in Stamford, CT. The pay there is almost as good as NYC and
they are always looking for accountants. I just need 4 more classes for my
degree. I think they are discriminating against you because your lack of
experience, not age. Try applying for a/p or a/r jobs, but don't expect to
get more than $40K per year. Work your way up to journal entries.

I am taking my final course at Fairfield University, in fairfield,
CT---I am presently doing accounts receivables along with auditing--have
done some tax work--any places in stamford hiring that you are aware
of????
