Hi,

I graduated from overseas with BS degree in Business Administration,
when I moved to United States I evaluated my transcript and it was
equivalent to BS degree in Business Administration with a focus on
Accounting and I also meet the educational requirements for the CPA
exam which I did take once but I was not successful, I tried hard to
get into public accounting firm but I couldnt and I end up taking a
state accounting job which I've been doing for a year.
Now I'm pursuing the CPA again and my question is, will it be possible
to get into public accounting after passing the CPA considering that
the only experience that I have is in government accounting or it'll
be a waste of time studying for the CPA now, considering also that i'm
33 years old, or age has nothing to do with this ?, and if i can study
anything else other than the CPA to enhance my career what will it
be,
Your advice is well appreciated, thanks everyone.

Are you sure you will be able to sit for the exam again? In NY the
educational requirement changed, I thought this was national. I was an
accounting major that never took the exam, also 33 - now, but I never
used my accounting education. The CPA would be a great investment for
you, by my estimation worth the effort.
