Getting a CPA License Heidi 06-07-2008

 I have passed 3 of the 4 CPA exam parts and am sitting for the final part
in a few weeks. So far, I have passed everything on the first try.

Although I have a lot of business and accounting-related experience as an
Operations Manager for a Fortune 100 company, I don't have an accounting
title, and I have no CPA in my local organization. However, my state
requires a CPA to sign-off on my application to vouch for my experience.

Has anyone else been in this position, and/or can anyone offer any advice
as to how I can proceed in this situation? I make over $100k in my current
position, so this inhibits my ability to simply change jobs - I can't
afford too much of a pay cut.

 I believe you either need to "put in the hours" for "public"
auditing,
accounting and/or tax work at a public firm ( ie" public "cpa
firm") .....
or....Take "x" ( see your state cpa society guidelines ) amount of
graduate level accounting courses......

See what your state requires for people in your situation. Often times you
can get the CPA firm that audits you to sign off, other times it's someone
else up the chain (a CPA) at your company, that oversees your work in some
manner, that can sign off. Maybe someone at "corporate".

Again, your state Board of Accountancy and/or the State Society of CPA's
will be able to guide you here.
