Hi. What is the most popular accounting software? And how much do they
run? I just finished taking few accounting courses at a community
college and I want to get a job.
Thanks in advance.

Depends on who you ask. Quickbooks and Peachtree are the most common
"out-of-the-box" versions for most small businesses.

It depends, as low as $100 if you buy form a kind and generous QB pro
provider who is also your accountant, up to over $1000 depending on the
modules.

Then learn QB and Peachtree, as that will open up most all options to you.

They're not cheap. But if you want to - any office supply store should
have them (Office Depot, Office Max, etc) or computer store (Best Buy, etc),
or go on-line.

You could ask your friends if anyone has an older copy you can get to tinker
with.

On the cheap, see if you can find a "dummies" book on Quickbooks and/or
Peachtree. I know they have them, and it'll give you some insight before
you even touch the program. Of course, having both would be best.

Go to Staples.com, you can buy Peachtree and get a discount coupon for
the same amount.
It takes a few weeks to get the coupon, but at least it is free at the
end.
