Switching between Real-Time and Batch Posting mode Chris 10-22-2007

Hello,

We are using Peachtree 2006 and recently did some custom integration
in which we are using a tool called Pawcom to pull data out of
Peachtree and post data such as invoices, sales orders, and inventory
adjustments. In order to do this, we had to change from Real-Time
mode to Batch mode in order for everything to work correctly.
However, do run our backups, we have to change back to Real-Time mode.

My question is does this put us at risk of data corruption when
switching posting modes like we are. Is anyone else doing integration
like this that can provide some insight?

Thanks in advance.

In general, I don't see any issues here. Of course anytime you are
doing a large data transfer, you should always make a backup before
(if PT won't let you, just copy the company folder and delete it when
you are done). It is also best to do the conversion on the server or
where the company resides, with a UPS on the unit this way if the
power cycles you don't have to start over.

There should be no problems switching back and forth between Batch and Real
Time posting. But I'm curious, as to why when doing a backup do you have to
switch to Real Time? You should be able to backup whether in Batch or Real
Time.

Please make sure your backup is a complete backup and not an incremental
backup. If you have a crash and try to restore an incremental back, your
data will become seriously corrupted.
