Unable to add vendors

After a computer crash and restoration of data using Carbonite, new vendor
codes can't be established for one company. There is no such problem with
other companies, so it looks like the restored file was corrupted.

Is there any solution to this other than setting up the company under a
different name?

I'm thinking of changing it from XYZ-E Commerce Div to E Commerce Div, XYZ
company. If I do that could I then change the name back to the original
name on the newly established company?
