Auto Close POS - Auot Z report daily Evie 05-10-2007

Hello All,

I would like to present a suggestion and pose a question of the same.

We have two stores and in both locations we have found little use for NOT
posting a z report at the end of each day (as in a blind close). That is to
say, all of our cash reconciliation reporting is required to be closed daily
and then the zz report to be run on the last day of the month. There is never
to be any deviation from this. We have, in fact, been faced with the problem
of our staff (cashiers) forgetting to post the z or zz report on time.

And so my question (suggestion, if this has not been addressed) is this: is
it possible to set up an auto close function on the pos? Essentially I want
to run a z report at, let's say, 11:30 pm every night. Then I don't need to
rely on my cashiers to remember (or rather, forget) to do the z report.
Likewise, I would like the zz report to run at 11:30 pm on the last day of
every month. Additionally, I would like to be able to manually do a z report
in certain instances where the pos might be taken offline for a prolonged
period.

Any ideas on how or if this could be done? If not, hey, what a great idea
for future installments of the great and wonderful RMS! :)

Thanks!

Evie,

Try setting up a keyboard macro to do this and you can use the built-in =
Windows Task Scheduler to run it at specific times.

Google keyboard macro free to ~$200

This is assuming you leave your computers/printers on at nite and they =
are not in use at the scheduled time.

Hello Evie,

The "macros" within the program are pretty weak... However,
http://www.quickmacros.com/ offers a full blown windows macro program which
will do what you are asking and much more. It's a great macro program that I
use for many things and it's only 40 bucks. Free 30 day trial to see if you
like it.
