Back Order Expiration Date Terrible Tom 12-01-2005

I'm failing to see the point of this field, especially when the default is
today's date. What good is a back order that expires on the day it was
generated?

I can understand a back order with a 10- or 30-day expiration, but I'm
curious about what happens to expired back orders. If a back order expires,
does RMS simply forget it? What if I don't want my back orders to expire at
all?

If a customer back orders a product and the expiration date is set for two
weeks out, what happens when the product takes three weeks to arrive? Will
it still be committed to the expired back order?

What about filling back orders? If I back order an item, how do I know that
the item has arrived and the back order can be filled? Is there a report for
that? I'm not seeing the info I want on the Back Order reports.

Thanks,
Tom

TT,

So change it. SO Manager | File | Configuration | Ordering tab | set it to
0 days.

Expire date - I think it does anything.

So I can change the default expiration date. That's probably good.

Did you mean 'I *don't* think it does anything?

Thanks,
Tom

Jeff is right the Expiration date doesn't do anything. You will need to run a
report to show those BackOrder's that are past due(same for Quotes, Layaways
and WorkOrders), you can then keep the deposit or return it to the customer
depending on your store policy.
