Our client just replaced a PC after a H/D failure and everything is back up
and working other than the cash drawer. It's connected to a Star SP200 serial
printer on COM1. The printer works fine. The printer and the drawer both test
fine from the Star OPOS configuration utility. Also, both are visible and
test fine from the device screen in Store Ops (Shift + Ctrl + F5). We've
already removed and reinstalled the Star drivers and tried a couple different
versions.

So now what...?

BMI,

Did you install Star's Cash Drawer OPOS driver too? Look in the Star folder
for the Cash Drawer folder. Then did you select the Cash Drawer OPOS device
name in the register's properties in SO Manager?

Yes, we've installed both of the Star OPOS drivers, the printer and the
drawer. Yes, the OPOS device name is setup in the register's properties in SO
Manager. Both the cash drawer and the printer test fine from their respective
Star OPOS device configuration utilities.

Thanks for your assistance.

BMI,

In the Tender type(s), pop cash drawer is selected?

How does the drawer connect, the RJ-45 on the back of the printer or through
another COM port?

Have you tried getting rid of the OPOS and use the Windows driver instead?
There are some advantages to use the Windows driver instead, like word wrap
for longer descriptions, item comments, discount codes, items messages, etc.

Sorry for the delay in replying, been busy with other stuff. Anyway, the
drawer is connected to the printer (RJ-45). We haven't tried the Windows
drivers on this one but have had issues with going that way in the past.
Perhaps we'll give that a shot...

Thanks again,
