I have right now about 10-15 POSes in Navision (self-made addon) and there is
an idea to change them to RMS.
As my inventory list contains about 50.000 items and database size is 35GB
I'm a little bit afraid to do that.

If anybody has experience with such a database size and no. of items, can
RMS handle them?

I am an RMS Partner, we have a store that has 156,000+ skus, they have been
running for a year now and there database size is only around 300MB. For the
most part there system runs very smoothly, with some minor performance issues
when moving large amounts of data. But to get around any performance issue
you will want a separate server with decent hardware specs. Otherwise if you
just put it on a workstation when you want to make changes to your entire
database, like doing a physical inventory count it will take some time to
process. Although you can avoid most of the hassles by processing data by
Dept, Cat or Supplier.
What comes with RMS is MSDE, but because you already have Navision and an
SQL Server and most likely a decent server you shouldn't have any problems at
all with only 50,000 skus.
