I just used the DELETE TRANSACTION selection in ADMIN.

The warning messages said "this deletes all SALES TRANSACTIONS"
Since when is a PURCHASE order a SALES transaction?

Purchasing is BUYING.
SALES is selling.

Why does this selection delete all POs????

Dumb Dumb Dumb Dumb

Good thing I had a backup. However, now I have to RENAME my database to
restore the backup. Since I had to do that now I have to go to all the
computers and change the database.

I am not happy.

Mickie,
As you found out the delete transactions in Administrator deletes ALL
transactions. From what I understand from learning in this newsgroup you
should never use it, except when first starting and you want to clean out
the test transactions, because it doesn't remove the configuration. For
future actions, you may want to run things by the brains in this newsgroup
before you do anything, instead of venting about something you didn't know
about after the fact
Craig.

My comment was listed as a suggestion to MS.
The warning needs to be more informative.
It only says it will delete SALES TRANSACTIONS, not all transactions.

I was trying to clear out all the old junk before going live. But we had a
few real PO's entered because they would not be arriving until after the Live
date.
----
As for the other. No computer was logged into RMS but I was still blocked
form renaming or deleting the old database.

It's a mute point now. My day is done and all is repaired.

Thanks.

One more thing, if you delete the old database before creating a new one,
you can use the same name for the new database..

you would be have a instalation of RMS in another pc to make certain
'dangerous operations'. And remember to have 2 or 3 backups of your
operational database. If you haver a full SQL SERVER instance (not MSDE or
SQL EXPRESS) you only need to make a RESTORE FUNCTION.
