I have a problem.... When I create a matrix I often change the codes in the
"Define Matrix Properties" screen so that they equal the manufacturers codes.
The probem I run into is if I use a duplicate item (lookup) code RMS will
default the item in the matrix to the current item in the system (even
applying the current inventory total to that item) rather then telling me the
item code isn't unique (which it does if I am creating a single item).

Is there any way I can avoid this or set the system to tell me the item code
isn't unique?

Thanks.

I might not understand your problem clearly, but, if I try to create a new
item lookup code in a new matrix, and it happens that the item already exits,
I would get a message that says:"look up code must be unique".

I'm not sure what you did with the duplicate!....

The problem arises if I change the code in the screen "Define Matrix
Properties" after the martrix has been created.

Well, you might want to find a different way to create a new item code
instead of changing the name of the existing matrix. Obviously, I would be
confused if I try to keep track of your inventory, personally. The data base
is confused too :=)

I just found a problem with duplicates in my matrix:

I imported one Store Op data base to the headquarter and then synched it to
another store; which was done sucessfully. However, as I entered the
inventory count for the 2nd store, I found that the descriptions of items in
some matrices are mixed up.

Matrix example: dimension 1, color: red, white; dimension 2, size: 2, 4, 6

The grid on the matrix show red 2, red 4, red 6, white 2, whte 4, white 6.

But when I click on "properties", the sku for red 2 would have "blue 4", and
red 4 carries description of "blue 6".....etc.

I have no idea where those items came from!.....I hope someone has this
experience before and tell me what might have gone wrong!...

You may want to look at the Retail Realm Fashion Bundle that has some nice
utilities to help you change Matrix, ad to matrix and create matrix [with
betterlogical coding structure]. Yhis module also gives you PO in Matrix
Format; Availability in Matrix Format etc.... ( a must for fashion sector ).
Let me know if you wish to get more infomation.
