I am contantly losing my cable connection causing me to have to write down
credit card information, put the transaction on hold, and process it through
once the internet service is restored.

Does anyone reccomend DSL service? I know there is a slower upload, but I
think it may be more stable.

Is there a better solution?

It's not the type of connection, it's the provider. I've had cable at my
house and DSL at work for years now and my cable connection is by far the
more stable of the two. You just have to research providers in your area.
www.dslreports.com is a good place to start.

I agree with Morris, that it is more the quality of the provider than the
type of broadband. There is always a little luck too. ;) I have 3 DSL
locations, 2 were always rock solid. One was a chronic/intermittent problem
until after months a GOOD tech found the problem and fixed it. Your provider
may or may not have control over the quality of the lines in your location.

Upload speed shouldn't be an issue for credit card approvals at any
broadband type speed.

I agree with the other posters that it's more about the provider than
cable vs. dsl. On the other hand, you usually only have one choice of
provider to your location, so it works out the same...

Personally, I've never had much luck with DSL. Seems like I'm always at
the farthest possible distance from the central office.

See if you can get verizon's FIOS Fiber service. That's pretty new, so
there's not all that much historical data on reliabiltiy, but everyone I
know who has it says it's great. Just one more possible option.
