Ghost Matrix Items

When I scan a tagged item it comes up on the register with wrong information. When I try to look it up in the Store Operations POS or Manager to correct the problem it is not there. Can anyone tell me what the problem is and how I can find and modify this item? Inactive items are not displayed in item lists, but they will be added to the transaction screen if scanned, or if selected through a matrix lookup.
