Sean,

Is your RMS Partner not helping you set the system up?
Even though I could teach someone how to use the system in 15 minutes, it
can be very overwhelming for a newbie with all the different settings and
options. It is almost worth the time and money to pay a partner $400-$600 to
help setup and train on the POS.
But that is my opinion and everybody has there own reasons for doing things.

Hi Rob,

I gave your suggestion a try and had mixed results.

Problem: I want to print a standard sales receipt with pricing and a second
gift receipt without pricing when needed from the same receipt printer but
with different receipt templates. Also, I have another network printer set as
the default printer to print full page reports from the same POS station.

Your solution works fine if the receipt printer is set as the default
printer and printing reports from the same POS station is not needed. Also,
the Windows drivers print slower than the OPOS drivers. If I try to use OPOS
drivers for printer 1 and printer 2 RMS gives an error "printer is being used
by another application" when trying to print the gift receipt. See the
different scenarios below for my results.

Scenario 1: Using the same printer set printer 1 to "automatically print
receipts" and use Windows drivers for printer 2 set to "do not print receipt"
but to journal receipt. Then use shift + F11 to print gift receipt.
Result 1: If using Windows driver for printer 1, the sales receipt prints
slow, and printer 2 prints to my default injet printer instead of the receipt
printer.

Scenario 2: Using the same printer set printer 1 to "automatically print
receipts" and use Windows drivers for printer 2 set to "do not print receipt"
but to journal receipt. Then use shift + F11 to print gift receipt. This time
I set the receipt printer as the default printer.
Result 2: If using Windows driver for printer 1, the sales receipt prints
slow and printer 2 prints the gift receipt from the same receipt printer.
New Problem:Since you cannot select a printer in Manager to print reports
you must switch the default printer or switch workstations for reports.

Scenario 3: Using the same printer, set printer 1 using OPOS drivers to
"automatically print receipts" and use Windows drivers for printer 2 set to
"do not print receipt" but to journal receipt. Then use shift + F11 to print
gift receipt.
Result 3: If OPOS drivers are used for printer 1, the sales receipt prints
very fast, and printer 2 prints to my default inkjet printer instead of the
receipt printer.

Scenario 4: Using the same printer set printer 1 to "automatically print
receipts" and use Windows drivers for printer 2 set to "only print after
asking cashier." Also, the receipt printer is not set as the default printer
Result 4: If using Windows driver for printer 1, the sales receipt prints
slow, (very fast with OPOS drivers) and printer 2 prints to the receipt
printer when a gift receipt is needed. And, I can still print reports from
the POS station.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Sean

Sean,

SO Manager | File | Configuration | Options | POS Options | check share OPOS

Use OPOS for printers 1 & 2. There is an option in SO Manager
File/Configuration that says "Share OPOS printer with other applications" -
you want to check that.

Generally if you have the Windows driver installed for the receipt printer,
OPOS will go insane, not sure why it seems to be working ok for you with
both installed...
