i might be missing something obvious here. in "Manager | Database | Registers
| Receipt Formats" i have quite a few formats. when i click on the magnifying
glass in the property for each receipt format it opens up a dialog so i can
choose which file that format should use. but how do i find which file the
available formats are currently using? how do i match the two?

TIA,

Eddie - the receipt xml file is matched to the receipt format as you
mentioned; then you match a register to the appropriate receipt format in
database - registers - register list - select your register go to properties
- select receipt printer 1 and/or receipt printer 2 - on the bottom you set
the appropriate receipt format and check mark "journal receipts from this
printer" in order to populate the journal with an image of the receipt - -
hope this helps.....

I think the only way of knowing which xml file is assigned to a receipt
format is to open them to see which xml file's description entry matches what
you see in the "receipt and report templates" field. Right click on the xml
files and select edit - it'll open in notepad - the PROPERTIES section will
show the declaration "DESCRIPTION"....this is what displays in the "receipt
and report templates" field....hopefully you don't have too many xml files to
open up, and hopefully the description isn't duplicated; for this reason I
usually edit the description on both xml files and report files that I happen
to edit so that I can quickly identify them through the application - hope
this helps.....
