I have Microsoft RMS setup in the front for sales and i have one in the back
on the server just for scanning inventory and no sales.

What i need is the back server to be able to pull from the same database as
the front?

How do i do this?

thanks

Never Mind, I have posted several times with know replies on any of my posts
and its been months. So i figured how to do this and will post for anybody
else that needs it because i am here to help others if they need it.

1) start, all programs, Microsoft dynamics rms. and client network utility.
alias, type in a name for an alias on your network.
2) On the server computer where your database resides. start, all programs,
sql server configuration manager, sql native client configuration, and
aliases. Right Click and create a new Alias. In Alias type the same name you
created on the network client network utility under aliases. Port No i left
blank, Protocol used TCP/IP. (Note if you use a different protocol you need
to keep both the same). And on server I typed in localhost unless you
actually have a database server name.
3) Start Store Operations Administrator
File connect, use sql server authentication, username you created on your
database, then password. Enter your database name the one you created for the
store, then under the drop down you should see your Alias you created click
on that and then you should have database connected.
4) Click on Database then select and then select your database.

thats it you should be able to connect.
