HELLO Guys.
Our main office server using HQ RMS 2.0 and 12 stores are connected.
I found out 2gb is max size for RMS database from here.
Since our HQ database reaching 2gb, I decide to purchase full version
of SQL 2005.
However I am not sure which version I have to purchase.
Can I buy standard version with 5 cal? (I am not sure about 'cal')
Should I purhcase 7 more 'cal' to run 12 stores?
Please be advised.

You will need to purchase one copy of Headquarters Client for each store that
will connect to the Headquarters database. Activation is not required to run
Headquarters Administrator, Headquarters Server, or Headquarters Manager, so
you can install Headquarters on as many machines as you want at your
Headquarters location.
Instead of full SQL, you may want to consider SQL Server 2005 Express
Edition which is included on your Headquarters CD. The maximum database size
has been increased to 4 GB.

Hello Matt.
Thank you for the advise.
Do I have to install SQL server 2005 express edition manually?
Or does it automatically installed when I upgraded HQ from version 1.3
to version 2.0?
I shouldn't get database size warning message if it is installed
automatically but I got max DB size warning message when it almore
reach 2GB (It was resolved after I delete old receipt file)
Please be advised.
thank you.

yes, installing HQ from the disk on the machine that the MSDE is located will
prompt you to upgrade to 2005 Express. Make sure to create a backup before
you upgrade because the process will convert your database and there is no
downgrade proceedure if you change your mind.
If you are also upgrading the version from 1.3 there are other procedures to
follow to upgrade the data source from 1.3 to 2.0 including the stores. Read
and follow the documentation. If you are faint of heart, get qualified
assistance from your vendor.
When I tried 2005 Express with SO, I found data problems similar to the fix
just realeased for RMS2.0 with XPsp3 or Vista SP1. Since upgrading the OS
and installing the latest patch, I haven't seen those problems.
