Our company is investigating the possibility of using handheld computers to
help in our inventory management and non-standard(i.e., away from the
checkout lane) ringing up of sales for warehouse sales.

We are strongly considering NEw West's Mobile POS and Mobile Suite. I've
also taken a quick look at 2bSolutions's 2BInventory. Opinions from users of
this sotware (other than Evan Culver, Dan King, or Barkley Busby) would be
appreciated.

Are there other mobile solutions on the market? The inventory control
(receiving, physical inventory, inventory picking to fulfill transfer orders)
is our main interest, but the ability to ring up sales without being tethered
to the desktop computer would be a big help.

Bill,

Another option is to just use a wireless laptop or if you really want to =
get fancy, one of the new micro-laptops like OQO www.oqo.com.or Sony's =
UX http://tinyurl.com/ypn6af or Vulcan's Flipstart. www.flipstartpc.com

With the Symbol MC 50/70, you're gonna spend ~ $1200 for the device and =
another ~$2k for the software, whereas you can just install RMS directly =
onto the micro-laptops or laptop and run it. Don't forget another RMS =
lane if needed.

Add a USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner for inventory taking and/or a USB =
mag stripe reader and wireless portable printer for sales.

You might also peruse the list of other RMS add-ons as I think there are =
other vendors supplying this type of product;

Bill,

I've setup New West Mobile POS and Mobile Sutie for several of my =
clients and they have been very satisfied with it.

They are a reliable company with good support and a solid product.

Their product is pretty easy to setup and easier to use and run with.

You should consider contacting your RMS partner for additional =
suggestions.
