I am having trouble after closing or creating Z and ZZ reports. I am able to
create the reports and close the terminal, however, after the task is
completed, The 'Synchronize Offline Database' window appears and begins the
process. After a few moments I receive an error: Run-Time Error '-2147217900
(80040e14)': [DBNETLIB] [ConnectionOpen (Connect()).] SQLServer Does not
exist or access denied. Then my Store Operations terminates. I do have an
Offline database created on Register 1 in the store and I am able to connect
to it through RMS Administrator. I am running RMS version 1.3. This problem
has been occuring since installation.

You need to use an 'sa' level account to log into the offline database
and I think to the main database as well. The offline sync process uses
some some advanced features of SQL Server to sync the databases and
requires 'sa' access. Sometimes the system is set up to log in with a
SQL Server account that has reduced permissions, which is normally good
practice for any application, but won't work with RMS & offline databases.

If it looks like both databases are using an sa account to connect, just
create a new offline database on the register and change SO
administrator to connect to the new database on the "Offline" tab.
Sometimes a new DB will fix wierd sync errors...

Thanks Glenn, however I am using sa accounts for both primary and Offline
databases. I have created a new Offline database earlier today to see if that
would fix the problem, however there has been no change afterwards. Earlier
course of action: Deleted old Offline database and created new Offline
database on Register1 using most recent backup made just prior. I named the
second database RMSMartinOffline2 and made the appropriate changes in
administrator on both registers. I can easily connect to the new database in
Administrator and even browsed its contents and viewed some reports in it
with Manager. Then switched my connection back to the Primary database and
logged into Operations. Once in Operations, I performed a blind closeout and
received the same error. Help please.

Jim,

Make sure to use the IP address of the main db server and not just a name.

Turn off any firewalls that may be running, if that works, open a hole for
SOPosUser.exe
