Thanks, I have implimented all suggestions, however, the problem still
persists. I have now used IP's to name the servers and again I can easily
connect to both primary and Offline databases without trouble. I am still
having experiencing program shutdown after creating Z and ZZ reports upon
Offline database sync initialize.

Jim,

Let's start at the beginning.

Do you have 2 machines or 3?

One machine needs to act as the database server, where the main database is.
It cannot _also_ have an offline database.

The ideal scenario is that you have a office machine that is the main
database server and you have register machines. Each of these must have
MSDE/SQL Server installed on them. The register machines will have their
own "offline" databases on their hard drives. You create these by going
into SO Admin on each register and create a new, blank database.

SO Admin | File | Connect | server name will be (local) | put in the
password you entered when you installed the program | OK | Database | Create
| name it "Offline" (no quotes) | next | click on the magnifying glass and
double click on the DBFiles folder | select the rmsdb file | next | finish.

File | Configuration | Offline tab | (local) as the server name, sa for the
user, put your password in, database name is "Offline" (no quotes), 15 for
the timeout. Test it. It should test OK.

File | Connect | put the IP on the main database server machine, main
database name and password

File | Configuration | main server's IP, main database name, password and
test. If OK, you're good to go.

Z or blind close and it should sync.

Repeat at each register.

Thanks Jeff, I am using 2 registers and the "primary server" is located in
another building. I may very well have had it configured wrong. My setup is
as follows.

Primary server located in different building.
Register 1 houses Offline server.
Register 2 uses Register 1 for Offline serrver.

I will make your recomended changes now and see if it solves the problem. I
will post my results.

The only thing that doesn't make any cents is why does register 1 have this
problem being as this is its current configuration.

OK, still having troubles.

Config is now:
Register 1: Primary IP address and RMSPrimary
Offline (local) and Offline

I can connect to both without troble in SO Admin.

I thought taht perhaps it may have been some level of network trouble so
after I configured as above and still received the same error (to my
surprise). I then created a new server on register 1 from a current backup
and configured register 2 to see that server as the primary. Still same
problem. I then switched back to the configuration Jeff specified. I tried
all I know including the old reboot but no luck. Anymore ideas will be
greatly appreciated.

Jim,

The Offline database must reside on each register's local hard drive, in its
own copy of MSDE. Nowhere else!

The main database and the offline database cannot reside on the same
machine.

Have you followed these instructions exactly? http://tinyurl.com/75cs9
You must have access to CustomerSource to read this.
