I am experiencing the same problem. I have tried both the Sever name and IP.
I set up the offline dbase to point to the local machine.
Running version 1.3 also.
Both offline and Server dbase connect fine but when I do a z I get the same
error.
Only resolution is to delete the offline dbase settings from Administrator.

It is a store that has been synchronised with HQ. Does this affect setting
up the Offline dbase ?

I am having the same problem also. I have reviewed the documentation
including what was available here. Has there been any change in your
problem? Currently I just run the closing when I finish the day and I am
using a batch file to sync the databases at night. Is there someone who
actually has this sync working?

salinden,

I have quite a few stores running it without issues.

What exactly have you done already?

What error message, the same listed? That error sounded like either a
firewall issue or using a database server name instead of the database
server's IP address.

Someone already mentioned the use of ip addresses. I tried this and still
had the same results. I have tried shutting down all security software to no
success. Do you know if the others like Jim ever solved their problem?

sa,

Dunno, but I would think he would continue posting if he didn't. It does
work, just fine.
