Ian,

The offline database is a backup system so you can continue to do business
in case the network or server goes down. I install the server software and
create an offline database on each register so they can run independently if
necessary. The offline database on the server is not really necessary.

Just to point out the usefulness of this system, I was on vacation, when of
course someone crashed the network. They were able to continue doing
business as usual until they got hold of me and I was able to walk someone
through getting the network back up. If you are using internet credit card
authorization, consider running a backup authorization system too, either
dial-up credit card terminals, or a phone line/modem backup connection for
your PC's in case your DSL or Cable goes down.

It's a little extra setup work, but peace of mind and no lost business!

just so i am clear

On each computer i will create an offline database correct..

so i should not create a single offline database on one computer (not the
server) and connect each computer to this offline database

Thanks

That is the way I suggest to do it, a separate offline database for each
register.
