For anyone experiencing the issue of POS not opening correctly due to the
process still running in the background, here is an easy work around.

Download the attached ZIP file.
Unpack it wherever you like. (I put it in my RMS program folder)
Create a shortcut on the desktop to the kill.bat file.

Now when it hangs the next time just double click the shortcut to kill the
process. This is the same as ending it in task manager. I personally don't
want just any employee messing around in task manager though.

Morris,

It happens less frequently in 1.3 than earlier versions, but still not
fixed. We always put the POS and Manager icons in the Quick Launch toolbar
so you just have to single click it. Seems to help employees a little.

Is double clicking a single click icon the reason this is happening?

Our employess all seem to have their home computers set to double click
while I prefer work computer set to single click. So they are always double
clicking the single click POS Icon, (and all other desktop Ions)

If setting Xp to double click will solve it I will set the POS to double
click

DD,

The real problem is that the program will not run twice nor will it switch
to an already running copy.

People will get impatient and click on it again.

What would happen if the Icon were pushed in the middle of a transaction, and
ended the process accidently? It seems less likely that they would accidently
open task manager and then shut it down while surfing the desktop.

If this is a known problem why hasn't MS fixed it, I have not ever
personally had any other program act this way.
