I receive items by the case (parent) and sell them by units (child).
Does any one have a receiving report that will show the child's retail
price, the received unit cost (parents cost / # units) and the gross
margin ?
OR
Is there a report which shows the same info for all parent child items?

Thanks for your help

Jay

HI Jay,
Such thing can be handle by your own customize report. look at any report
with .grp extention and try to make yours else send your detail I will see I
can help you out. I need all kind of detail for your report.

Akber,
The problem I am having is linking the child's cost to the last cost
for the parent item. It is very easy to get a report on the child's
parent item number just by using the item table. How do I get the last
cost for that parent item, divide it by the number of children and
report it as the child's cost.
The child's cost will only update AFTER it pulls a child from the
parent. When receiving an item I want to see the margin I am making on
the parent item sold as a parent and also the child. I believe this
should be a basic function. I am assuming since the parent/child feature
is used in many businesses, someone would have already created the report.

Good morning,

Thank you Jay for posting your question about the cost of parent/child
items; and thank you Akber for posting that a report for this could be
customized.

In testing on version 2.0.0109 I received 1 of a parent item with a cost of
$4.00; and the child item's cost (with a child quantity of 2) was changed
to $2.00 as expected. This was with Last Cost selected as the Cost Update
Method.

The child quantity still shows 0.

There was a fix in 1.3.1009 that fixed an issue where Item costs are not
updated correctly in Microsoft Retail Management System Store Operations if
two or more items have the same parent item.

Please let me know if this answers your question; and if not what steps I
can take to recreate the scenario you are describing and what build are you
using.

Todd,
I receive items by the case (parent) item and sell them by the each
(child). When I run a receiving report it will show the last cost,
retail price (parent item) and my gross margin. I am looking for a
report that I would run after receiving my items, which would show me my
gross margin for the child based upon the cost I just paid for the
parent item. The program works fine as far as updating the costs.

Thanks,

Jay
