Is there a way to prevent an item from being returned if the item was sold at
a discount?

We are a high-end women's clothing company, and we wind up having people buy
a dozen garments, then returning 10 of them a week or two later. Our
"official" store policy is to not allow an item which was originally sold at
a discount (either a sale price set up previously, or a manual discount
applied at checkout time). However, I don't see anything in the Store Ops
configuration to prevent this from happening.

Likewise, I would like to put a limit on how long a person has to return an
item. Our policy is to disallow returns of items purchased more than 10 days
ago, but I don't see anyplace within RMS to enforce that rule. We've had
people return purchases more than a month later, and a rookie cashier (and
even some experienced ones) will not always catch it.

I am looking for a way to do this using the functionality already within
RMS. I do NOT want to have to buy a third-party tool (sorry New West).

This may require a small customisation. Check the content of the returns
and match them with the invoice [sales receipt ] and highlight the items
that were sold at a discounted or sales price. Then allow the cashier or
the manager to accept OR no the return. Contact me for more info on th
ecost of doing such a customisation.
