RMS, EFSNet, and PCCharge all process Debt cards independently. EFSNet links
with PCCharge and processing Debit Cards. RMS, PCCharge, and EFSNet process
Credit Cards as a linked unit. Why does PCCharge (the number one Credit Card
Processing Software) not function with Debit Cards from RMS (the number one
POS system). On the surface, it would seem like an relatively easy
interface. We have many customers that prefer Debit Cards since they are so
convenient. Debit is becoming the norm for Retail Business. RMS interfaces
Debit with Vital; however, there are several issues concerning this solution.

1) Vital only works in Batch mode (not interactive like EFSNet). Most
Retailers are moving to Quick processing and settling.
2) The POS system (RMS on a standalone PC) directly links to the Internet
with Vital. This creates three problems.
a) Weaker security.
b) A redundant Gateway problem.
c) Can not truly lock down Internet Explorer on the POS system.
3) PCCharge has a better CC report system than RMS and can be centrally
controlled.
4). Independent dual cash draw systems will no function using Vital.

The solution:
Make RMS process Debit cards to EFSNet through PCCharge.

Richard,

If you are looking for a better solution than PCCharge, try TPI Software and
there RMS Addon for processing CC, Debit, EBT, Checks and Gift Cards. The
guy that owns TPI is the guy that started PCCharge (Bill Pittman) way back
when.

Concur with Rob -- we're using an RMS plug-in from TPI (via Abanco/Positive
Technology) and it's totally transparent and integrates great with RMS for
Visa/MC, Debit and also Echeck sales (Electronic Check
Authorization/Conversion). If you use Positive/Abanco as your Merchant
processor there is no charge for the TPI software/plug-in. Their discount
rates were also highly competative...

Regards,

Rich

We were one of the first to test TPI and assisted them with some design
issues a few years again. TPI's solution at that time used a single SQL
database with one point failure issues so we were unable to use it. They
stated they would look into the issue. I will take a look at the product
again.
