Receipt Format Question DLangley 01-10-2006

Can anyone tell me why the 40 column Basic Receipt does not print out item
comments (this is when you do CNTRL F10 at the register) and why the Full
Page Receipt does print them out.

I'm no XML expert but the both appear to be outputting "Entry.Description".

The customer really does not want the item comments to print out on either
receipt. I can change it to print "Entry.Item.Description" but then it does
not print the item description that was on the register if it was changed.

The customer uses a generic item number for items they do not stock.
Therefore, they want to put in the actual description of the part at the time
of sale on the POS screen. Additionally, they want to put the cost of the
item in the item comments. That way they can track their COGS on these
generic items that get sold.

However, they do NOT want this comment with the cost of the item showing up
on the receipt. The comments do not show on the small receipt printed at the
register but does print on the full page receipt printed on the windows
printer.

Got me plumb baffled.

Doug,

This has to do with <ALIGNMENT> on a 40 column receipt. By default it has
this as a value: <ALIGNMENT> "<~" </ALIGNMENT>
The ~ tilde is what causes the line not to wrap there by not showing the
item comments. I would suspect the Full page receipt does not have the ~
after < for the Description column.

This is all explained in the Customization Guide, if you are an RMS Partner
you can find it on PartnerSource.

You can also post questions to otherPartners on the Partner NG.

Thanks Rob - I thought that might be the case. I'll download the
customization guide and see if I can figure out how to stop it from printing
the second line on the description on the full size receipt.
