You might take a look at the touch screen keyboard feature - it will work with a mouse just as well as with a touch screen. You can have a different touch screen keyboard assigned to each register with a separate set of keys. Touchscreen keys can point to a specific department, category, supplier or specific item as well as replacing the regular function keys.
