We have RMS installed on the POS system and a back office machine. POS runs
but when we try to run the software in the back office we get an error popup
saying "Server not connected" in the lower left of the screen. There is no
error number or other text.

SQL Server is running (we checked via computer management).

Is this a problem with communication with the POS system? Something else?

Thanks ...

What application are you opening, SO Admin or SO Manager? I suspect you are
trying to opening SO Admin and all that means is you haven't gone to the
File menu --> Connect and connected to where the database resides. It is not
neccessary to go into SO Admina and connect every time you want to access SO
Manager.

Have you ever been able to open SO Manager from the back office machine?

When you go into SO Admin --> File menu --> Configuration screen, what does
it say for your Server and Database name? (local) and RMSSample? If it does
then you have not configured your back office machine to connect to the
database.
