Special Characters in Item Description Jesse 10-30-2007

Specifically, I am interested in condensed fraction characters. For example ½
instead of 1/2. We use these characters because space is limited for many of
our various pipe fittings with various sizes etc.

Now, the problem is that some fraction characters display in RMS just fine
(¼, ½, ¾) while others for some reason do not (⅛, ⅜, ⅓, ⅞). These
characters
are readily available in the windows character map, and they display
correctly in every other program I've tried, but when I try to paste them
into an item description in RMS, it displays as a question mark (?). I would
really like to be able to use these characters so if anyone has any ideas as
to why this is happening and how to fix it, your help is appreciated.

Remember that RMS is sitting ontop of MS SQL. Most SQL systems require
that the fields in question except extended ASCII Characters. What
version are you on of RMS ?.....

Once we know that we can suggest an answer. Also what fields are you
trying to place these extended characters?

Try to place them in the Description line, not in the size maybe....

I am currently running V1.2 but will be rolling out 2.0 soon, and I have been
trying to paste the characters into the description line.

¼ works for me in 2.X version ...wish I could help on 1.3 can anyone help
on this. One other issue could be happening. Which Font are you selecting
when using Character Map? Make sure your using Arial or MS Sans Serif...
¼ ....These are the defaults within the backend ASCII data types.

WINGDIGS or others will cause and issue.

Hope this helps!
