Using Mercury Processing? Vince 12-07-2005

If anyone out there is using Mercury Processing, I would like to know a few
things:
1) When processing the transaction does the reciept printer have to be set
to always print? (Personally I never give a reciept unless customer requests
it, in which case the printer is set to never print reciept).
2) Must you print the entire reciept or can you just print the total amount,
and not a description of each item?
3) I would be using a cable connection, which is basically the internet, but
not through a DSL line dedicated to each station, the connection is made
through a router, and basically all POS stations have internet access, is
this fine?

Thank You,;

This is setup in RMS SO Manager not Mercury, so the answer is no.

The receipts are very customizable, so creating a custom receipt that will
print the info you want is not a problem.

Yes

Rob,
Thank you for the response...I like what I am hearing.
In regards to the reciept printer, I thought that the CC receipt prints
through the receipt printer, and so I was wondering how this works, in terms
of my actual reciept not being set to print?

The way it would work is you would have to have a custom receipt created that
would only print the CC portion of the receipt and assign that to Receipt
Printer 1 and set to print automatically for each transaction. Then have a
regular receipt that is assigned to Receipt Printer 2 but set to Do not print
or Prompt cashier to print and have it Journaled. This way you will still
have a copy of the regular receipt ready to print if need be.

The main receipt is already setup to print a CC slip when the trasnaction is
a Credit Card, you would have to delete retty much every thing else but that
part of the receipt.

Vince,

Why are you thinking about moving to Mercury? Can't you get your credit
card company to use Vital or are you looking for gift cards, a better rate,
what?

Starting Nov 1, Mercury is using the free, built-in RMS connector that you
already have, to process through Vital.
