I just purchased RMS with all the equipment and am going through the
nightmare of setting all the hardware up. I have a Star TSP100 and an APG
Cash Drawer that I need to connect somehow. Unfortunately, my equipment came
without a cable to connect the two. The Star printer takes a 6-pin cable and
the drawer an 8-pin Cat5e. After checking with Radioshack and Fry's, it seems
like a cable that can connect both ends doesn't exist? They said I may need
to have it custom made (which I don't have time for)...

I then discovered the cable connectivity guide on the APG website and it
looks like that my setup would work with an RJ12 cable (or cd-014a). I have
an RJ 12 cable that I have connected to both devices, but my drawer is not
working. My question is: Is there a specific type of RJ12 cable (i.e. the
cd014a from the APG site) that I would need or should all RJ12 cables work?
What about the two missing pins on the APG side? If all RJ12 cables should
work, are there any suggestions why my drawer isn't opening?

Sabribo,

Contact APG for the correct cable. Has to be wired properly for the =
Star on one end and the drawer on the other. You could burn the printer =
up wired wrong.

Then you need to configure the drawer. If using the Star Windows =
driver, go into the printer properties | Print or Raster Print Options | =
Cash Drawer 1 | set it to Document Top

If using the OPOS driver (I don't recommend it), install the OPOS Cash =
Drawer Driver and then set it up in the Configure MS OPOS Service =
Objects

Thanks for the help... I contacted APG this morning and it looks like the
company I bought my POS from forgot to put the cable in the box. They are
overnighting it and I will try to follow your instructions tomorrow. The Star
printer is already working, so I hope that the drawer will be easy once I
have the cable.

I installed the cable but still can't get the cash drawer to work. I went
into Print Properties to the device settings tab and selected Cash Drawer 1:
Open before printing. Star also includes a tab there to configure their
settings. I took out the OPOS configuration for the drawer and did the same
in RMS. I then ran a test from the printer settings to test the drawer and it
opens fine. However, when I go into RMS and tender, only the receipt prints
and the drawer doesn't open. What else do I need to configure?

Thanks for your help!
