It would be more convenient if the dongle's requirement would be to be on the
machine that is the database server rather that the first machine to start
POS. It would enable the dongle to be placed in a more secure location.

It'd be even better if the dongle were eliminated entirely. Let's get out of
the 90s and eliminate the dongle!

Personally I think the dongle's are an effective way to reduce software
piracy. Not to say that the dongle method can't be cracked, but it is much
more effective then typing in a string of letters and numbers every time you
want to re-install (that is how other MBS products like GP and CRM work, as
well as Windows, Office, etc etc .. and if you're an IT Pro, you get sick of
typing key codes in after a while)

I think that having the dongle detected by an application other than POS is
an excellent idea. This would eliminate the required to have the dongle
present on the first machine which loads POS each day. You could have this
"dongle manager" running on any machine (such as your server), and you could
leave it running all the time - that way it doesn't matter which POS station
get started first.

I'd like the dongle on the db server too...

If they can't or won't do that -- and I doubt they will, they should at
least make the licensing system more similar to how it was for Quicksell
2000.

In QS, you needed to have the dongle on the first POS terminal you turned
on, but you could run Manager without a license at all.

The way RMS is now .. if I come in to work late at night and want to run
some reports, I have to go down into the store and turn on the first
station, and then I can go back upstairs and open Manager and do my
administrative work. Worse, I can't access Manager from home (say through PC
Anywhere for example) unless station 1 is left on that day.
