When I try to connect to my database in Store Admin/Connect.... I get this
error:

Data Source name not found and no default driver specified...

I get this same error when I try to backup my database from Store Manager,...
everything else seems to run just fine,.. I did upgrade to 1.3 about a week
ago...

Arve,

Are you trying to backup to something other than the local hard drive?

Try backing up to your "My Documents" folder without any special characters.

Arve,

Let's hope this is an easy fix, otherwise it can be a mess.

Looking thru MS KB, this article popped up;
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;259569

1.3 reinstalled Crystal Reports and may be causing the problem. Try the
instructions about the CR problem with the following changes;

Go into regedt32 as described | File | Export | save it in the "My
Documents" folder and give it a name like "reg121705" without the quotation
marks.

Go to the key described, but look for a folder called LocalServer. If
there, click on it and on the right side of the screen, look for a Driver
entry. Under the Data column, my system says;

C:WindowsSystem32SQLSRV32.dll

Compare that to yours.

If it doesn't exist, try removing and re-installing 1.3. Make sure to
backup any customized labels, custom reports, memorized reports, etc. My
suggestion is just try a simple re-install. If that doesn't work, try a
complete removal of RMS and MSDE by following the instructions in this KB;

Hi Jeff, thanks for the info,...
I used regedt32 and looked under :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARE and there is NO ODBC "folder" option
I tried to reinstall MS SQL 2000 that comes with RMS but it gives me
another error:
The instance name specified is invalid.
and then it cancels the installation..

The good news is that I can still access the database from one of my two
other registers that is reading the server machine that I am having problems
with, and I can choose the backup database from there...Do you think I need
to reinstall Windows again and then RMS 1.3 again,... fresh???
