Is there any way to assign an item or department to be negative? I am trying
to create a lottery paid out sequence. In the past, we always created a
lottery dept and lottery paid out department. Cash registers like Sharp allow
the option to set an item as a negative entry.

Several possibilities spring to mind, but I don't have time to try any
of them out right now. Try out the following and see if any of them
work for you...

1) enter the price as a negative value
2) enter the price as zero and select the item option "Must set price at
POS" - train cashier to enter a negative value in the pop up.
3) set up an item as in #2 above - call it "payout". Create a second
item with zero price and on the Special tab, assign it a Tag Along of
the "payout" item, with a tag along quantity of -1. Cashier now enters
the payout as a positive value.
4) set up an item as in #2 above. Create a Custom POS Button to add the
item to the transaction (See instructions in the Knowledge base). Have
the POS Button enter the quantity at -1.

Just a thought - would it also be possible to use the cash payout function,
setting a macro key to take you straight to the pay line. th reason codes
could be adapted to account for different lotteries. This negates the need to
use a department or item but can still be reported on

Glenn,

Tried these, however tagalong items don't allow quantity less than '1' so I
couldn't get it work.

I am doing the exact same thing. I created a lotter dept. and set the price
to (1.00) and every winning ticket I scan the barcode I have assigned to
it. It makes it so much easier than doing actual payout since you can scan
the negative amount and scan the new tickets all on the same transaction.
