Hi all,

We trying to do an inventory check of our store with over 25,000 items.

All my items are scattered everywhere (two floors) and it seems almost
impossible to filter by supplier, department or catergory. I think my only
option is to check "all items" at once.

I plan on using 2-3 notebooks with barcode scanner attached for the counting.

I want to know if there is any way 2-3 people can start counting on the same
count sheet created under "Physical Inventory"?

When I tried it, it doesn't automatically add up counts from multiple
computers. Or is there a feature in RMS that allows CSV output of counting?
Then I can output CSV file from each computer and add them all at the end?

Sorry for the long write up but any help/comments from experienced users
will be really appreaciated!!

Thank you in advance,

Ken

One thing you may want to consider to make it easier in the future(but
probably wouldn't help you now) would be to use bin locations. Maybe with
the upstairs as one location and the downstairs as the second location. I
know it seems like a daunting task, but it really would be worth the effort
to try and set up some bin locations to help sort your counts.

Dear Craigs,

Thanks for the reply. I understand your point.

The problem is some items are stored at the main floor and basement.

Hi Ken - my understanding is that you only want to "add counts" in one
workstation, but the program does allow for multiple uploads of counts using
a handheld device, where you specify that your upload should ADD to any
existing counts; ie, if item 123 is in stock, 2 in stock, both upstairs and
downstairs, where 1 is downstairs and the other is upstairs, when you first
scan downstairs and do that upload, it uploads a count of 1; then you go
upstairs and scan everything, including item 123 count 1, when you do that
upload, make sure you select ADD to existing counts, NOT "replace" existing
counts - you want to add to existing counts so that your second "1" adds to
the first "1" for a total count of "2" - if you need any additional help with
this please re-post - hope this helps.....

Dear Convoluted,

Thanks for the reply.

I actually don't have handhelds. I have notebooks with barcode scanners that
are wirelessly connected to the RMS server.

One person could start a count sheet and finish one floor then move to the
second floor and keet adding to the same count sheet. This would be the
easiest but may take upto a week since only one person can work on the sheet.

I would like to know if multiple ppl could the count at the same time. The
problem I have is they could be counting the same items at the same time at
different floors.

Thanks again! any comments are welcome!!
