OK...it is Sunday night, and I am freaking a bit...

Dunno if it had anything to do with it or not, but there was a forced
Windows update last night and our server restarted. When reopening QB
on the server, we get an error that connection to the company file has
been lost, along with the error code mentioned in the subject line
here.

I cannot open the file on the server at all. Any ideas or direction is
very much appreciated.

Not much info here.

If QB 2006+, you have to start (then stop if desired) QB on the "server"
before you can access from another machine.

If not QB2006+, you may have lost the network connection and it's not
restored.

Let's have the flavors of Windows involved and the version of QB.

OK. QB 2006, latest release, and Windows 2000 Pro.

The file and the QB program are on the same machine, but as soon as I
open it, I get the "connectivity lost" error. Ran a hard drive check
and it is solid.

Thanks. That's what I needed to know.

I have no idea.

Do you have another computer with 2006 installed that you can test the
file on? If not, do you have a backup you can try restoring?
