Can't delete account

Using QB Contractor 2006, recently updated.

I have an COGS account that I cannot delete. It has no entries. No item
points to it. In preferences it is not listed for any 1099 categories. In
the accounts properties it is not associated with any tax forms.

When I try to delete it, it says "I cannot delete or merge an account set up
as a 1099 account".

Yet it isn't in any way I can find.

Any ideas on this?

Double-check your 1099 accounts. Try re-selecting it for a 1099 account if
its not selected. Save then exit the program.

Re-enter the program, de-select that account from 1099 preferences, save &
exit program.

Re-enter program and see if you can delete it.

I don't know why but rarely I'll run into something strange like this and
exiting & re-entering the program will be the solution.

I think I figured it out.

The account I was trying to delete was a 1st level sub account. The main
account was linked for 1099s. I un-linked the main account, it handled my
issue. Then I just re-linked it when I was done messing around.
