Our QB file (2002 Pro US) is set up to import new and edited supplier
& customer addresses via IIF files from our proprietry order entry
system.

Everything is fine except that the Accounts people do not want to
import the contact name, tel, fax & email information so that they can
then enter their own details. So I removed these 4 fields from the IIF
file and on import QB blanks them all out.

Is their any work around to leave the fields alone on import?

Many Thanks

Chris

On the four offending fields, how did you remove the info?

Did you completely delete the four columns, including the header info -or-
Did you leave the header info, and just leave blanks in the data.

With IIF, importing a list that already exists overwrites
all fields. So if the field is blank or not included the result is
the same. The only way I can think of to deal with this in IIF
is to first export the lists from QB and merge the fields you
note into your data before importing your IIF into QB.

If you use the QB SDK, you can selectively import fields
without overwriting others.

That should have been:

With IIF, importing a list record that already exists overwrites
all fields in that record (records are ID'd by the NAME field).
