Installing Quickbooks 2002 on Windows Vista Martin 07-07-2008

I have just changed computers and have reinstalled Quickbooks 2002 on the
new PC which runs Windows Vista. However, when starting the programme I
receive the message that "Your user account for Windows was created with
Restricted access to system resources. This will prevent Quickbooks from
operating properly. Please contact your system adminstrator and ask him or
her to grant you standard user rights."

Please note that as a single user I installed this as Adminstrator. I set up
a new user with standard access rights and received the same message on
looking to run the programe.

I would appreciate any pointers on how I can move forwards.

Many thanks

Martin

QB 2007 was the first version that could run on Windows Vista. Upgrade to QB
2008.

Many thanks for your help. If I run an upgrade on the PC to upgrade from
2002 to the 2008 version will this work or will I need a brand new
Quickbooks?

If I read you correctly, you want to run the QB 2008 installer
on your new Vista machine that has a broken install of QB 2002
and choose to upgrade that install. I wouldn't do that. First,
completely uninstall QB 2002, then do a fresh install of QB 2008
and be sure to update it to the latest release. Lastly, open your
old QB 2002 data file (after making backups of course) in QB 2008
and let it do it's conversion to the new version.

Note: be sure you haven't mucked with Vista's new security
model, such as disabling UAC -- the Vista supported versions
of QB don't like that.
