I am trying to change the invoice #'s in QB so that they begin above 1000.
In reality, I am around invoice # 25. I understand when I renumber the
invoice, the next one should be plus 1. I manually changed the number
from 25 to 1025. When I went to create another invoice, instead of going to
1026 it went to 26. This worked when I tried in on the sample company. Any
ideas?

Did you do the change on an old (already recorded) invoice? This won't
work - try changing it on a new unrecorded invoice, record that, then see if
it gives you the correct number for the next new invoice.

QuickBooks remembers the last invoice number actually created, not an
existing invoice that has been edited. Create a new invoice and save it with
the new numbering scheme (1027) and the next one will be 1028.
