There is...it's alled QUICKBOOKS.

Nohting will read it, it's a proprietary file format.

Now there are some options for import/export.

Print the file out? Get the full version of Abobe Acrobat and
you can "print" the balance sheet and other reports to a
acrobat file.

True. But Adobe PDF files are also in a proprietary file format, and Adobe
provides a free Adobe Reader program to read PDF files. I assume they do
that with the idea of making PDF a widely used file format. And, the more
widely used and widely accepted the PDF file format is, the more people who
will want to or need to buy Adobe file creation software. Of course, PDF
read-only files are really just static information, whereas even read-only
QB files contain more complex information.

Also the proprietary nature of the file has been broken in recent
years. So know you can get Acrobat clones.

The more people use Acrobat files the more they will sell full
versions of Adobe Acrobat.

Why pay for the full version of Adobe Acrobat when you can get CutePDF
for free?

The full version of Adobe Acrobat does have a tad more features than the
CutePDF writer.
