When opening my company file, I get the message "Your company file has been
opened by someone who has a newer QuickBooks release"

Answering "yes" to the question "Do you want to download the latest release
now?" brings me to the update screen, where I select "Update Now". The
screen shows a date in "last checked" of "Fri, 11/2/2007 08:49 AM" and the
status "Nothing new downloaded".

The nothing new downloaded is because I downloaded and updated YESTERDAY,
and EVERY DAY since I first installed the bloomin "upgrade".

Yes, I have restarted QuickBooks, as the message states "Select the updates
that you want to download.......Some updates might not be installed until
you restart QuickBooks" And yes, I restarted the computer. Additionally, I
have tried checking "Reset Update" and re-downloading, watching as the
blinking green dot tells me it is downloading.

I still get the message "Newer QuickBooks Release Available" when I open
QuickBooks. Checking the version within the program shows that the version
is still R1.

Sigh.... I *DO* hate Intuit.

Please, don't comment on my dislike for Intuit - just tell me how to fix
this latest issue with my "upgrade"

Yes, indeed. And I had checked the option to use a shared download. But,
that didn't seem to work.

I'm going to assume you're using QB 2007 based on
your post from 10/30.

QB 2007 is currently at R8 and you can get the manual
patch here (scroll to the bottom of the page to find the
manual update):
