 When did Pro 2008 first come out and what release version is it up to now?
I hate buying software when it's first released due to bugginess.

Since QB continues to update from the prior year, it isn't the same as
a 'first release' and doesn't have as many bugs.

Not always. 2007 and 2008 were not major rewrites. 2006 was. There have not
been many problems with either version. 2008 has been out since last fall
and has already been updated. Either year will work for you.
