Hi guys, yesterday I backed up my company file from my desktop
computer and restored it to my laptop, and then saved it as a company
file so I can work on it on the move.

My installation is the 2004 upgrade from Quickbooks Pro Version 6.

I have installed Timer but when I try to export lists I get the
message telling me to switch to single-user mode. But how? The manual
tells me this is done under the File menu, but there is no option for
this under File.

I have entered a second user just in case that triggered the switch
option, but no.

I cannot get any sense out of Help because I get an error on search
saying
Internet Explorer script Error
Line 160
Char 2
Error: object doesn't support this property or method.
Code: 0
Url: md:Amsitstore:c:/program%20filesintuitquickbookd%20Pro
Core.chm::/noresultsawquestionframe.htm
Do you want to continue running scripts on this page? Yes/No

Is this because the IE version I have installed is 7?

So ... can anyone please tell me how to get into single user mode?

Thanks in advance,
Jo

Yes, this error is probably due to installing IE7. Go to Control
Panel>>add/remove programs and remove IE7. It will revert back to IE6 and
your help file will work again.

Does the title bar of your file say "multi-user"? To get to Single user
mode, go to File>>Switch to single user mode. It will be the 6th option on
that list.

Thanks for replying. This is a screenshot of my setup with two
different companies open. I hope I'm not going blind, but I just
cannot see anywhere to switch to single-user: http://i31.tinypic.com/29bbiap.jpg

You certainly are correct that you don't have that option. Your file menu is
different than mine. Even my title bar is different than yours. Mine says
{company name}- QuickBooks Pro 2004(multi-user)(Admin). I have never heard
of a "QuickBooks Pro: Professional Business 2004". Your IP indicates you are
not in the USA. Could that be why you have a different file menu?

Could they have buried the option under a different menu?

Try searching in the Help menu for single user mode. It should tell
you. OR, you may need to go back to the other computer and switch to
single user mode and then create a back to restore on this computer.
