I noticed some big differences between the QB online version and QB 2004,
which I still use. I am guessing the online version is similar to 7.0 Pro.

1. Don't see the Other Names list, Vendor Types, or Customer Types. When
did QB scrap them?

2. Nice improvement to AR--you can do a journal entry with more than one AR
line. What was the version that finally fixed that?

3. I hear 7.0 has a Bill Payment Summary Window that helps avoid
double-paying an old invoice. Can't find it in the online version. Anyone
seen it? Is it useful?

Thanks,

Vince

These still exist in 2007 desktop versions. Vendor/Customer Types are found
under Lists>>Customer & Vendor Profile Lists. Vendor and Customer lists
disappeared with 2006 when they revamped the Customer/Vendor Centers.

I'm not sure where you got this info but it does not work in my Premier
2007. Yes, it would be a nice improvement.

I'm not sure of what you are calling a "Bill Payment Summary Window". There
is a "Pay bill" function in the desktop version for you to select the bills
to be paid. Is there an equivalent function in the online version?

I guess it is time to go play with the online version.

Thanks, Laura. You are right about AR. I confirmed with Intuit that the CD
versions still limit entries to one receivable account per transaction. The
online version allowed more. I am amazed this bug continues.

I heard about the new Bill Payment Summary window in an online review.
Intuit confirmed the new feature for Quickbooks Pro 2007. They call it
Summary Window but they could not provide any details.

So, I asked for a trial CD. Get this: Intuit no longer gives trial CDs for
Quickbooks. You have to buy the product first. If you don't like, you can
return it and request your money back. Is this the way software is going,
or is it just Intuit?

By the way, the online version is too slow for me.

You can get a trial CD of the desktop version by going here:
http://quickbooks.intuit.com/product/about_quickbooks/trials.jhtml

Do you have a link to the online review that mentions the Summary Window? If
I saw a screen shot of it I could tell if/where it exists in the online
version.

Thanks again. Intuit's Customer (dis)Service is not aware of the trials--at
least the two employees I spoke to.

The review is here: http://www.sleeter.com/articles/1162232923

It doesn't explain much about the feature.
