QB POS Software, worth the price? RobertM 01-28-2007

I'm currently using QB2006 Pro with excellent results as a
financial package and just received the advertising from
Intuit for POS software/hardware package. I have a small
retail store with 500 different inventory items and it's a
big pain tracking inventory and marking up price stickers
all the time. I'm considering POS software and I'd
appreciate any comments on QB POS software and hardware,
compatibility issues, etc. The QB POS package includes a
credit card reader, but I'm already using a Nurit terminal
with a service other than Intuit. Will that pose a problem?
What about my Nurit check reader terminal? Will it interface
with the POS hardware? Or does Intuit assume the user will
process checks and credit cards through Intuit?

Robert,

Like you I use and am fairly satisfied with QB for a financial solution. But
when I started researching QBPOS, I found that they were not interested in
working with me on existing hardware, would not assist me, nor did it seem
that they cared. Like many of their products they purchased it from a third
party and have adapted it. I have since started working with another POS
product that is very responsive to me and my customers needs. I would be
happy to share any further info with you. Please contact me at gary at
egerer dot net

Thanks

Gary

RUN , don't walk, away from this product.

If Intuit's reputation for service on QB's is any indication, they
will either leave you to wither in need or suck you dry in fees
( disclosed or otherwise) for service, upgrades, maintenance, sunset-
version, support, etc.

Understand one thing. The data you enter is YOUR data. In QB; Intuit
holds your data captive. Think their POS s/w would be any different?

Do your due diligence. There are so many vendors who specialize in
POS/Inventory-Control. Why would you even consider Intuit's lame
attempt to enter this highly specialized market.

Many vendors offer free dwnloads to try b4 you buy. I recommenrd you
do.

Once you fiund the idea s/w product for you and your business, you
will wonder why you didn't do it years ago.l

BTW, I got $50 for my 6 yr. old cash-register ($100 new) on ebay 11
yrs. ago. ...

Thanks for all the replies. I spoke with Intuit and their
POS software won't work with any other credit card processor
except Intuit and their software won't work with my Nurit
terminal. All charge card and check sales must be manually
entered into their POS software, and that's what I'm doing
now with QB2006 so there is no advantage to QBPOS unless all
sales are cash. The sales person also seemed to lose all
interest when I wasn't ready to buy today. I explained that
these things take time and research. Whatever hardware and
software is setup may be with me for a long time so it must
be something that will work for my application.
