Huh. I happen to know of two retail stores using QB POS, possibly v5.0,
who are using their own cc machines with their own choice of merchants.
It may not be supported and the swiping & auth. of the card won't
automatically post in the computer but its a simple matter of manually
receiving payment in the system. Maybe they changed 6.0 to not allow
manual entry of a cc payment.

I am only stating what the Intuit sales rep told me. I have
not seen nor have I used QBPOS so I cannot say firsthand
what does or doesn't work. Their web site says the demo is a
1 hour download with DSL. Four hours into the download it
indicated there was still 4 hours and 55 minutes to go. I
aborted the download.

It may also be that the Intuit sales rep is not familiar
with their product or else he was lacking in communication
skills and was unable to explain what their product does. In
any case, after speaking with him, my understanding is that
their product will not do the job that I want to do. Like I
mentioned, as soon as he knew I wasn't going to buy today,
he had no further interest in discussing their software. I
clearly got the message that he wished I end the call so I did.

Bob,

All of your comments are consistent with other folks who have contemplated
QBPOS. I'm glad you had the foresight to research it a little before going
down to a big box store and picking up their package.

I would start by researching what POS systems work with your current Nurit
terminal. Many POS systems will create an import file for QB. Else you can
just do a manual daily/weekly sales journal entry keeping the POS as a stand
alone system. That's how we handled it at the liquor store that I support.
