I've been running QB Pro 2008 for a few months. A month ago, after running
a Windows Update which updated Dot-Net 3.0, QB wouldn't load. I bit the
bullet and paid for a year's support. They fixed the problem which was
caused by the download.

Yesterday I installed Norton Internet Security 2008, and again QB stopped
loading. I uninstalled NIS and QB works again.

I plan to call on my one year support plan to see what Intuit recommends for
AV protection, and will report back.

Every time someone installs any sort of additional security software the
scum that writes the malware wins.

I finally got rid of Norton and have been SOOOOO glad! I wish I
would've dropped it a long time ago. I use AVG Free and have been
very happy! (someone from Best Buy's Geek Squad recommended it as
well as other 'techies'.) Turn off Norton and see if QB will load
then. I've not had any troubles or issed with QB or other programs
since getting rid of Norton.

You may have to uninstall Norton to actually turn it off. These programs
usually have programs running in the background that could be causing the
problem.

Alternatively, go into msconfig and disable anything Norton related and then
reboot the computer.

I use Avast! as my free A/V program and am very happy with it. When I had
the machine reformated this fall that is what the techie guy put on the
machine for me. I guess that is his choice of free A/V programs.

QB Support in Manila recommended McAfee. I asked about AVG and they blessed
that as well. So I installed it and QB loads just fine.
